Women Empowerment Cell



WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL:

Salipur Autonomous College, in its efforts to sensitise the students and faculty towards awareness and gender sensitisation has formed the Women Empowerment Cell on 6th December 2019. The Cell is a forum for creating general awareness regarding issues like gender, inequality, discrimination, empowerment and crime against women. It not only provides platform for deliberation and dialogue but also initiates the process of resolving gender perceptions prevalent in contemporary times.

Aims and Objectives

  • To hold year round activities like: seminar, symposium, film screening and workshops on gender sensitisation to educate students and faculties.
  • To provide Counselling sessions for students in collaboration with Personal Counselling Cell of the College.
  • To organise self defence camps in collaboration with NCC and NSS.
  • To invite eminent personalities related to the subject for sensitising students and faculties.
  • To observe National and International events in collaboration with other agencies of the College.

Activities during the year 2015-2016

  1. Awareness Programme on Save Girl Child, in collaboration with NSS.
  2. Awareness Programme on AIDS DAY (on World AIDS Day, 01.12.2015) in collaboration with NSS, NCC, YRC and Rovers and Rangers.
  3. Awareness Programme on Kanya Ratna (Save Girl Child) in collaboration with NSS.

Activities during the year 2016-2017

  1. Awareness programme on AIDS Day on 01.12.2016 in collaboration with NSS, NCC, YRC and Rovers and Rangers.
  2. Observation of International Women’s Day in collaboration with NSS.
  3. Awareness Programme on Legal Rights of Women on 09.02.2017.
  4. English and Odia Essay competition of Legal Rights of Women on 27.02.2017.
  5. Poster and Painting presentation on gender sensitisation on 08.03.2017.
  6. Programme on Women Empowerment and ban girl foeticides (Save Girl Child) was held on 15.10.2016.

Activities during the year 2017-2018

  1. Observation of International Women’s Day in collaboration with NSS.
  2. Awareness Programme on Girl Child, Kanya Ratna , Govt. of Odisha programme was held in collaboration with NCC, NSS and Rovers and Rangers. Rally was organised with students and teachers followed by a seminar.
  3. Observation of World AIDS Day in collaboration with NCC, NSS, YRC and Rovers and Rangers on 01.12.2017.
  4. Seminar was organise on Rights of Women on 08.03.2018.
  5. Debate competition in English and Odia on Women’s Rights on 05.03.2018.
  6. Poster and Painting presentation on Bapuji and Women’s Rights on 06.03.2018.

Activities during the year 2018-2019

  1. Value added course on Gender Studies in collaboration with Department of Sociology.
  2. Awareness programme on World AIDS Day in collaboration with NCC, NSS, YRC and Rovers and Rangers on 01.12.2018. Quiz, debate and mass rally was organised for social awareness.
  3. Seminar was organised on Gender sensitisation in collaboration with Departments of Sociology and Philosophy on 26.02.2019.
  4. English and Odia Essay and debate competition was held on Women’s awareness on 27.02.2019.
  5. Poster and Painting presentation was carried out on Women’s Rights on 01.10.2018.
